Oxygen Nasal Cannula (Adult)

The nasal cannula is a device used to deliver supplemental oxygen or increased airflow to a patient or person in need of respiratory help. This device consists of a lightweight tube which on one end splits into 2 prongs which are placed in the nostrils and from which a mixture of air and oxygen.

 They deliver oxygen in a variable manner; this means the amount of oxygen inspired depends on the patient's breathing rate and pattern.

 

Direction of Use of Nasal Cannula

Please attach end connector to oxygen source and set to prescribed flow not to exceed 3LPM. Then, we will verify flow by holding nasal prongs close to your ear and listen for a hissing sound. Later,  slowly Increase flow temporarily if necessary and then reduce to prescribed flow once flow is verified.

Please do not forget to Slide sleeve toward head to assure good fit. If necessary, secure cannula tubing to patient's face with a single piece of tape at each cheek.

Caution of Nasal Cannula

Disposable. Single patient use. Do not reuse.  Store in a cool dry place.

Target Group: Nasal cannulas are used to deliver oxygen when a low flow, low or medium concentration is required, and the patient is in a stable state.
