It is one of the emerging approaches to precision medicine that assists the physician and pharmacist in prescribing the best possible therapy as well as drug dose while reducing the risk of side effects and adverse drug reactions (ADRs) caused by drug interactions.

Many drugs that are currently available are “one-dose-fits-all,” but they don’t work the same way for everyone. It can be difficult to predict who will benefit from a medication, who will not respond at all, and who will experience negative side effects (called adverse drug reactions).
