Kuala Lumpur, June 28, 2023 – Alpro Pharmacy Group (hereinafter referred to as Alpro Pharmacy), the largest prescription pharmacy in Malaysia announces the establishment of a joint venture with Sugi Holdings Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Sugi Holdings”), a leading Japanese Retail Pharmacy company to form Alpro Sugi Venture Sdn. Bhd.

The joint venture aims to enhance business expansion opportunities for both partners by combining their expertise and resources in the pharmaceutical sector. Alpro Pharmacy and Sugi Holdings have been collaborating since forming a business strategic partnership on July 6, 2022 to exclusively offer Japanese healthcare and personal care products in Malaysia. With the establishment of Alpro Sugi Venture Sdn. Bhd., the companies aim to further strengthen their relationship and promote mutual growth.

Alpro Sugi Venture Sdn. Bhd., will primarily engage in the drugstore business. By end of the fiscal year of 2023, the joint venture plans to open several Japanese-style drugstores in Malaysia. The establishment of Alpro Sugi Venture Sdn. Bhd. will enable the introduction of Japanese healthcare and personal care products to the Malaysian market, providing local consumers with access to a wide range of popular made-in-Japan brands to better support the local community’s health. Furthermore, the joint venture aims to expand the drugstore business across Southeast Asia, bringing Japanese-style drugstores to countries such as Brunei, Singapore, and Indonesia.
