Electronic prescription telemedicine provider DOC2US has teamed up with Foodpanda and Lalamove to offer medicine delivery services to Klang Valley residents in under two hours – just in time for the period of total lockdown in Malaysia and afterwards as well.

DOC2US CEO Dr Raymond Choy said in a statement that the three firms saw the need to provide easily accessible, single-touchpoint professional healthcare to the general public with the Covid-19 pandemic still raging on. There are currently more than 6,300 patients using DOC2US’ ePharmacy service.

DOC2US’ ePharmacy service connects users to a doctor from DOC2US for a virtual consultation, and an e-prescription will be given if needed. The prescription will be filled by Malaysian’s largest prescription pharmacy chain, Alpro Pharmacy. Then, the medication will be delivered within hours through DOC2US’ designated delivery partners in the Klang Valley, Pandago and Lalamove.

“With 20,000 active on-demand delivery partners, Lalamove is proud to be a part of the mission to connect Malaysians with doctors anytime, anywhere,” said Lalamove Malaysia managing director Jane Teh. Meanwhile, Foodpanda Malaysia managing director Sayantan Das said they wished to ensure customers are still able to have access to their medication via a safe and reliable channel.

According to Dr Choy, DOC2US can also help more than half of the over 2.4 million Malaysians over the age of 65 who require long-term medication for ailments like cholesterol, hypertension, and diabetes as they try to avoid visiting high-risk places such as hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies. Some of these elderly patients had also previously relied on their children to purchase medicine on their behalf. This new medicine delivery service would provide the utmost convenience to them.

“Straying from medication for such conditions can put them at an even higher risk of morbidity from their existing condition on top of the Covid-19 risk,” said Dr Choy. “Hence, they can now use the ePharmacy service with text chat, voice note and even call function on Facebook Messenger to help them ensure their prescriptions are filled and safely delivered while they stay safe at home.

“By adapting our backend system with Facebook Messenger, we could provide professional online consultation for minor acute illness such as common cold, cough, upper respiratory tract infections, ear infections, asthma, and skin rashes, issue e-prescriptions, and deliver the needed medication door to door, especially when users are unwell.”
